Upside down
Since the museum (or at least the guy I spoke to) don't know what they're for and didn't like my soup idea. Here's the other pictures I have and I'm wondering if @hushkit.bsky.social may know what the Beaufighter Bowls are for, or know someone who does.

That was the last plane. Leaving with a mystery. On each side below the windows, above the yoke are two tinplate dished sheets.

I have 3 ideas, keep the pilots massive balls out of the way. Bowls for the keys, barely any room to swing so need to be efficient with space. Emergency soup bowls.

Bristol Beaufighter

Massive markdown for quite how hard that was to get into, even if the pilots door has opened. Like a Victorian terrace loft.

I'm not going to fault the seat since that was stuck, the view would have been ok I think.

Gloucester Meteor.

DeHavilland have competition! Owww!

Things digging in, hard to reach, hard to get low enough to see through the gun sight should be. I could only choose which pedal to reach lest my shins be stripped.

Definite nice touch with all the wood, great feel to the controls.

General Dynamics F111

Comfy seat, nice touch with the fleece seat cover. Meant for people with shorter legs and torsos though, a helmet would have me rather wedged.

Constant peril of sitting on the nuclear button, ejection handles reassuringly solid.

Vickers Vicount

Very relaxed seating position, easy to get in great view. But that is too damn many engines

Aerospaciale Dauphin 2

Points off for no head rest and smacking my head on the intercom on the way in.

Otherwise, not bad, almost, that's a lot of glass out in the sun 🥵

CAC Bedford Comair

Simple controls, nothing complicated, great views, probably very easy to land. Points off for no headrest and poor lateral support.

Douglas DC-9

Comfy enough, worse view than the 737. Everything just a little worse, harder to get in.

Boeing 737

Ergonomic masterpiece compared to the rest, especially climbing in. Nightmare number of buttons though. Sketchier than I expected given this one had passengers until 2008.

Bell Kiowa

Supportive but only light padded, cramped around the legs but nothing pinched. Probably not great on a long flight.

Dehavilland Dove

They also managed to make a commercial aircraft where my knees fit even less well. At least my head doesn't hit things but a real downgrade on the cushions.

CAC Sabre.

Mid all round, but felt very easy to reach all the levers. Elbows a bit cramped.

Fairey Firefly

Not the best view forward, second best seat despite age, headrest second to none. 10/10 clicky switches and even they managed to get my knees in with a war on.

Also the crank handle that closed the canopy worked.

Dehavilland Sea Venom.

Great view, cracking (new) seat. But guys, people have knees, and heads.

Edgeley Optica, great view, great room, hard seats.

English Electric Canberra.

Unpadded, not terrible stationary but I imagine rough on the skeleton. View forward terrible (even without training cover up), seat at highest setting, at least my knees fit. No idea how the poor bugger in the nose/back gets in without injury once all the kit is in.

There's a few downsides to taking this warm hoodie to Australia.

Maybe an upside.

Who shaved it and gave it a novelty butt plug?

It might be meant to be a hat?

Aww look, a felty hedgehog decoration.

The things I will do to avoid David Croft.

Cycled enough servers in the end and found one that worked!

Like, also the humans.

But, she's so cute.

Well they've sucked the lids on, few hours cooling down and a few weeks waiting to go.
