It’s called Sirnight in Japan, it was intended to have a knight motif (hence why it’s so protective of its trainer)
In that sense giving it the Fairy type was a perfect call, since it slays dragons now too
Gardie’s my fav too and I hate having to justify it to ppl lol it’s just a cool pokemon to me
