Trying not to annoy my WhatsApp with football opinions. LFC.
sorry, but that's simply not true. in the PL he's leading our forwards in npxG, xA, shot creating actions, etc. he's 1st or 2nd for all progressive actions on the ball, barely losing out to Salah in a few metrics.

the only players who edge him on a per90 basis in these fields are Rio and Chiesa

Cody is 1st or 2nd in pretty much every attacking metric for Liverpool this season. there have been games where he hasn't been amazing, but putting even a portion of our form on him is completely unfair, or a really big misreading of our games.

we already have two new, struggling offensive players who want to play to the left channel, surely a third one would solve our problem?

palace clog the center so we have to funnel the ball to our already impotent fullbacks, drop a MF into the back 3 and further reduce the passing options in center?? honest to god what is he thinking.

really strange conclusion to draw from this game.

he's played about 200 minutes all season, and signing another left sided attacker would solve literally 0 of our problems. weird thing to try and score points on.

That's the dream. Would take some doing.

Baleba is a good shout, though I don't see us coughing up that kind of cash after the summer we just had. Same with Wharton. Especially with United circling both of them.

Yeah I like Kamara and Onana at Villa actually, but right, neither of them can seem to stay healthy for long.

I understand!

Gakpo should keep his spot, but he *needs* to keep the width. There's already enough traffic in 14 with Wirtz/Isak/Hugo.

Robertson for now until Kerkez settles down. He's been too erratic in build up.

I think he values a 'dm' in a possession sense more than a 'destroyer' archetype, which Jones can become.

Obviously would be great to have an incredible IP passer (Wharton) who also is strong OOP and can reliably cover space. I don't know if there's a player like that on the market right now.

I think it's a feature, not a bug, of the system at this point. Slot is willing to cede territory defensively for numerical advantages IP, it worked last year but we aren't reaping the same offensive benefits with Mo out of form + growing pains in attack.

Exactly. He's our Vitinha.

Grav struggles against a passive midblock. He struggles to progress the ball without active pressure on him when he can't spin the presser. Jones is a 1st receiver, and his quick passing and movement into space has gotten much better over the last 6 months. Combining him with Wirtz + Szo is the key.

again - fantastic planning and placement there. give the big guys space to run into and hit the target.

our entire front 3 holding hands waiting for a cross. everyone wants to be in zone 14.
