What I mean is that we should blow off their orders. My use of "whatever" here means something more like something you'd say to someone while doing what you wanted to in the first place. It's a dismissal.

I know my suggestion is naive, but I genuinely think that a dismissive "whatever" approach to compliance with fascism might encourage us all.

Then protest there until they get their jobs back. And we should support them materially until they do.
