but isn’t Cinema itself a combination of many arts? writing, acting, music, cinematography. art can be a compound expression that is elevated beyond the sum of its parts. i dont think video games fundamentally have a purpose, anymore than a film does or does not.

I think something is art if it’s a human expression of thoughts, feelings, questions. Video games can absolutely be a medium for imaginative expression. but video games are also an extremely broad term. Something like LoL is less designed as an act of human expression and more designed as a sport
