Australia is the other non-European nation that competes, which causes confusion. I think the reason is that both nations have embraced Eurovision as an annual event, and as it’s just a bit of harmless fluff, were allowed to participate themselves.

A bit of an exceptionalist way of putting it. There is a single market and the U.K. may ask to rejoin it. I think there’s absolutely 0 chance of the EU SM bending itself to form a distinct entity with the UK.

That’s certainly true. I often wonder how and why they decided to be so timid. Boggles the mind and saddens me greatly.

Yes. I won’t say I’m not worried but if I were forced to put money I’d bet on reform falling apart before/during the election.

Don’t think he will. I think he’s peaked too early. The bad stories are already coming out and their polling is starting to fall.

Hateful moron is perhaps more accurate.

Conversely I learned Zulu with a very established teacher - was head of a university department in South Africa. Got the grammar but couldn’t get it moving. Duolingo is opening it up for me greatly.
November 28, 2025 at 6:02 AM
All this 👆🏼 Duolingo is pretty good really. But it has to be used, preferably with other aides, and you have to actually speak when you are in the target language.

I find it very hard to call jus ‘au jus’. The grammar is just too clunky and wrong, so when I visit family in Canada I have the choice of sounding like a pretentious twat or cringing inside whenever prime rib or french dips come on the scene.

👆🏼Troll account. Worth blocking.
November 24, 2025 at 12:40 PM
Is it a lot better? Does it have ‘everything’ or are there frustrating gaps in content?
November 23, 2025 at 10:24 PM
🤞🏼

Think you need to tweak your understanding a bit.
November 13, 2025 at 7:28 PM
But I wasn’t ascribing it to you - you did that part. I was engaging the more general point that (unlike you) many people do in fact deny who they are attracted to despite physiological indicators. Interesting that you reduce such behaviours to simple ‘bad faith’ though.

What an uncalled for, nasty response. I was referring to those who push down desires and literally believe they don’t have them despite having them. But hey, let’s assume the worst of everyone and strike back. Let’s make Bluesky X! 🤦🏽

But there’s always room for cognitive dissonance.

😂 ¡¡¡yo también!!!

I don’t disagree at all. Was just pointing out that that was the thrust of the article: she couldn’t blame Brexit now without raising the question of why she hasn’t all along.
November 3, 2025 at 4:56 PM
The article states that nothing has changed since before and being elected with respect to the known impact of Brexit, so blaming it now is disingenuous and discredits her integrity.

I didn’t know he was a climate scientist. How interesting… 🤨
October 28, 2025 at 5:30 AM
I agree that he’s planning on staying. Though also think he would spend that amount of other people’s money for even a week’s holiday.
October 24, 2025 at 9:26 AM
I actually can’t really understand how or what went on…
October 23, 2025 at 10:22 AM
Somehow doing this on SNL makes me uncomfortable. It feels like it helps normalise it.
October 12, 2025 at 5:33 AM
Not sure about that. The BBC has been heavily compromised since Brexit.
October 11, 2025 at 9:30 AM
Don’t understand. Spain is one of the last properly liberal countries in Europe. Like Europe’s Canada. (But equally under threat.)

Or are you referring to the Franco years?
