What an awesome graphic?!

I love a cosy evening/morning...I just wish that the period of dark cosy hibernation was shorter! Last winter felt like a long one.

Noticing the nights drawing in? 🌙

October brings a big shift with most of the UK losing over 2 hours of daylight this month!

Do you enjoy the cosy evenings or miss the longer days?
Map of the UK showing daylight lost during October by region. Northern areas like Lerwick lose about 2 hours 40 minutes, Stornoway 2 hours 30 minutes, Aberdeen 2 hours 20 minutes, Glasgow and Newcastle 2 hours 10 minutes, Manchester and Birmingham 2 hours, and southern areas such as London and Plymouth about 1 hour 50 minutes. Background uses colour bands to indicate daylight loss.

Covering two stands at the ENRA conference today - comms and impact for @crew-waters.bsky.social and comms and engagement for @sefariscot.bsky.social.

With the focus being engagement and impact for the next ScotGov strategic research programme this feels like the perfect event to attend!

My first trip up Arthur's Seat.

I reached the top beetroot red and sporting 7 (and counting) midge bites. How do they always find me?!

#StormAmy My namesake storm!!

🚨 Storm Amy is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to North West England from Friday 3 October.

💨 Winds could reach 50–60 mph & heavy rainfall may cause localised flooding, especially in rivers and low-lying areas.

What to do if #flooding is expected: thefloodhub.co.uk/am-i-at-risk...

Well, I never imagined I'd find myself enjoying a lecture about economics!

Prof Kate Raworth was super engaging for her talk on #DoughnutEconomics for the 46th TB Macauley Lecture.

I also had a tonne of great conversations at the @sefariscot.bsky.social stand. Huge thanks if you stopped by!

I've been informed that I'm actually just a massive townie! 😅

Maybe I've got selective memory but this has to be my first 1.5 degree September morning since living in Aberdeenshire. 🍂 Brutal! 🍁

When you revisit a museum 30 years later & finally get to try the samples… 🍎

The @museumofcider.bsky.social in Hereford was so much bigger than I remembered, although it probably has changed a lot! The basement area was especially impressive.

...we did leave with 2 bottles of perry in hand! 🍐

🐝✨ Did you know #HoneyBees can help track “forever chemicals” in our environment?

A new study from the Hutton and University of Graz shows #bees are effective bioindicators for #PFAS contamination, offering a natural way to monitor pollution.

🌴 Our iconic Palm Houses are entering a new chapter.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look now the huge project is nearing competition.

Our Garden teams will soon start landscaping and replanting more than 600 botanical specimens before we re-open the doors in 2026 🥳

Love shops like this! Absolute treasure troves.

We didn't buy any antiques or second hand furniture, but I did come home with 5 books for the grand total of £1.40!!!

🐗 Once extinct in Britain, wild boar are back in Scotland’s forests — and their numbers are set to rise.

New Hutton research predicts the population will grow from 1,472 to 2,399 by 2075, spreading across the Highlands, Perthshire, Moray & more.

Rainy day walk around Burn O'Vat and Loch Kinord. I'm so surprised I hadn't taken my dad here on an earlier visit! It's such a 'must do' for Aberdeenshire.

Two very different 5 ⭐️ reads one after the other!

The 1st a cosy fantasy romance and the 2nd a literary dystopian...I'll let you figure out which one's which!

Sandend is one of my favourite campsites just for how easily you can access the sea. The non-electric pitches have a pretty much uninterrupted view of the beach. Majestic!!

The Auchmacoy doocot (dovecot) is a beehive dovecot built in the 17th century and supposed to be one of the finest examples of its type in Aberdeenshire.
