Always the Billy Lyons, never the Stagger Lee
Licensing boards would also take the issue seriously. I only mention this because filing a professional complaint is a lot easier and less expensive than filing a lawsuit.

Me neither. My roommate introduced me to YouTube to show me the video

I’m pretty sure it will make the cut. I’m hoping for a top 10 seed but that may be a stretch. Hip hop generally does pretty well

Oh yeah, me too. Also, there was a bunch of “save hip hop” type of stuff that was very embarrassing (both at the time and especially in retrospect). Aesop Rock got it right on Save Yourself)

Commercial hip hop was mostly verboten. You could still like Biggie, OutKast, and a few others (Jay-Z usually got a pass), but not much else. But no one wearing a shiny suit, or getting jiggy.

It’s held up well. I listened to it again last night for the first time in many years. I do tink it anticipated things that would eventually be taken up by others. And the Cold Vein is easily my favorite record of 2001

Indeed it was. The hate on Prefuse 73 wasn’t as heated as (most) stuff from Anticon, but a lot of people hated on anything that wasn’t trying to be Illmatic or Criminal Minded

Just that it was mixing electronic elements and wasn’t typical hip hop. People on message boards could be particular (to say the least)

This album was very controversial on the ughh.com (underground hip hop) message boards back in 01. (I liked it, though his next album is better)

Yeah, it’s not a stretch at all to even say that she wasn’t doing her job.

Happy birthday too

To good for 43? Ok, fine

That’s why, when carolers ring my doorbell, I answer with a shotgun. Like hell you’re getting my figgy pudding

I don’t have the energy to have feelings about the Neeson drama. Thought he was very good in Naked Gun (though as other people mentioned Braugher in Brooklyn 99, that would definitely get my vote)

You say that today? The day after he was all over this site for doing something bad yesterday?

Raise your hand if you learned the circumstances of Trotsky’s assassination from the BRHS theater magnet and scenes/monologues from that play

It also makes Michigan look relatively good. The first mainstream reports of the misconduct came with the firing, so there wasn’t a period where the school was known to know about it but didn’t do anything (which they always try to do, and likely did here, but only reported after the fact)

Maybe try Pardoner, Washer, or Sweeping Promises? Not sure exactly what aspects of Minutemen you’re looking for, but they all have a little punk, a little indie, a little Lo-fi. Also A. Savage or Cola (Parquet Courts and Ought are more Minutemen like, but are from the 10s)

This is the way. Also, no hangover, so even if I stay out later than I normally would on a work night, I’m not as wrecked the next day.

I saw someone post about them a few weeks ago, then a few days later had convinced myself that I had only dreamed it up
