The other day someone asked me if I had any hobbies… I had to think about it.

But I think my hobby is sleeping.

I’m not altogether sure that it’s the healthiest answer. 😅

I feel a spiritual kinship with the organisers of Lilith Fair.

The magic of that moment. Of building infrastructure yourself. Of flying while putting the wings on the plane. Of making mistakes and learning and growing together. Of carving out space in a hostile climate. Of love and community.

This sums up how I’ve been thinking about the question “how can you be bigoted about a marginalised community when you also face bigotry based on your marginalised identity?”

My view is it happens when there’s an absence of either empathy or pattern recognition. Or indeed, an absence of both.
