How did all the firewalls break down so quickly?

*In IT

They could have went with "This is a comparable to moving from Assembly to C or Java to Python. Every time we've had a leap like that, more code has been produced and we've needed more people to service it. This is exciting"

Instead they went for "all coders will be eliminated in 2 years"

There's genuine utility for AI models, even the ones as now. But you absolutely need to be a competent coder to get the most out of it.

Europe is more than capable of building out a strong enough nuclear deterrence if it decides on it. Japan too.

If that is the ultimate outcome of current US foreign policy it would be a complete disaster.
December 10, 2025 at 6:37 PM
You could also argue that we wouldn't let Russia or China have the level of influence on our media environment that the US takes for granted.

The US as even a potentially hostile actor just breaks so much stuff. We need to assert more control just to protect ourselves.
December 10, 2025 at 6:34 PM
There is a huge amount of open source software in various states of readiness. Europe needs to adopt the ones that is ready and invest aggressively the stuff that isn't.
Where it's not easy or practical to do this, it needs to put whatever controls in it can.

The dependence on US tech is as scary for me. Something as simple as forcing Microsoft to push a poisoned update to Microsoft Excel or revoke all commercial licenses in Europe would cause absolute havoc across entire economies. AWS, Microsoft and Google dominate in cloud infrastructure.

Straw man is particularly lazy here since I gave a real life practical example and "ineffectual" is doing a lot of heavy lifting, since it could have an effect but not really cure the problem.
I'm not against trying the policy, just sceptical it'll really work.

Selling & possessing drugs is illegal, but I, the squarest man in existence, am reasonably confident I could get access to them tonight if I was determined.
"Illegal" and "stopped happening" are different; policy debates often proceed as if they are the same. Not sure how enforceable this is.

If artists wanted to capture all the excess, surge pricing and/or auctions are the way to do it.
December 10, 2025 at 12:40 PM
Maybe you can stop touts at scale, but I fail to see how you stop it. Even if official channels are limited, touts could have you pay a few first before transfering the ticket? Plus they could pay for access on their accounts.

In any case, lotteries for the right to buy seem like a fair solution.

Possibly, but judges care about their reputation and the reputation of the court. It might moderate positions or lead to more consensus to prevent exactly this scenario - court would move majorly only when a change in consensus could be maintained
December 9, 2025 at 3:30 PM
You need to create incentives for consistent jurisprudence, which means you need to create conditions where picking the youngest, most radical judge you can is not the best move.
Don't really care how you get there, but that has to be the goal.

I mean George Washington? Give me full AI Jesus or go home
December 8, 2025 at 11:09 PM
Could maybe have some sort of final review mechanism to the full court, with some sort of in built presumption

But the current structure seems completely unsustainable in any case
December 8, 2025 at 5:47 PM
That blunts but doesn't fully remove the partisan problem and might cause excitement at particular Presidential elections if balances tip
Seems it'd be preferable if the court gently reflects election preferences over time but there's not a 100% guarantee of a particular panel.
December 8, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Pack the court and Republicans pack the court after. What is needed is reforms that disarm the Supreme Court as a partisan body. The suggestion to just make a ton of lower courts Supreme Court justices and have panels picked at random seems good.
Now you might have to pack the court to get there...

I mean, I also had trouble remembering there's *2* attacks, and tend towards one button builds.

What really messed me up Vs Hades 1 is just there's boons that do stuff for just running about rather than dashing
December 7, 2025 at 10:08 PM
I managed to get through basically all the main story without ever really remembering about omega attacks, unless I happened to have particular boons in which case I *sometimes* remembered.
Dropping cast is useful even without the ton of boons that do crazy damage or debuffs off it.

Good teams and managers will counter regardkess. 3-5-2 looks like it fits the players we have, and have fit better at the minute. It also gives us options from the bench, both within the system and mixing it up.

Just hoping we can ride this long enough to take the pressure off.

I think your key miss is the ability of people to convince themselves that Nazis are not really, really, deep down, Nazis, because the consequences of that are horrifying in a number of different ways.
December 5, 2025 at 4:19 PM
Had this been Biden, right wing media would be relentless. Until the mainstream media picks it up but also months after. Years after.
Is it a lack of capacity or will for the left to do this?
December 2, 2025 at 10:29 PM
Counterpoint: maybe people don't turn against more competent politicians as quickly. I don't mean that just in terms of policy, I mean it in terms of communication and strategy and coalition building and all the other stuff good politicians are meant to do.
December 2, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Farke will have input, but its sign off on a few options. Anyone believe the club was putting an unambiguously better than DCL in front of him?
There's also the issue of time. PL is faster and more physical so it takes players time to adapt. We've seen it loads of times. Hard for a promoted team.
