Only Olson was able to get them to be conservative enough to actually get enough votes to win, and he had to lose first to do it.

I'd encourage you to read up on how the original Farmer-Labor party was born. They stole the F-L name from an alliance with the Nonpartisan Leaguers, and their first few attempts at real power were completely wasted by appearing too radical and controversial.

I think such a project is folly.
The far better course of action is to wrest control of the party we already have. To officially divide ourselves invites confusion and a much bigger loss if we fail.

In the great long term I think the only way to recreate a Nicollet-Mall-type experience in Downtown would be to get our own Union Depot but make any transfers be a block away, with arcades of small retail that people have to go through to get there.
