Trump's nonsense about Christians needing "extra protection" and said so called evangelicals getting their fix off their imaginary persecution complex is vile. This is all smokescreen to permit people's bigotry of others to be protected from repercussions under the veil of "religious freedom".

Growing up, I understood what it was like to be persecuted or scorned for being a woman, being Asian, being mixed, and later, for being queer. But one thing I was never judged for in this country was being Christian. I got /way/ more judgement later when I went the route of agnosticism.
