I really wanted to make the peonies stand out against a black background even though I knew it might blend with the foreground, but I'm happy I took that risk because I really like the stark contrast between the light and dark colours 💗

I had some troubles with the background, since it was one of my first times working with gouache on a larger scale, but eventually it all came together! 😊
