You might be able to skip new desk. I was amazed at how much room I had as soon as I got my monitors _off_ my desk. You don't need arms as tall as mine (mine are tall cause any looking down is an instant headache). You can get laptop holders that attach to the arms via a vesa mount as well.

The normally 2hr drive took 4hrs... but 4 years off my life. Oof...

Note to self, heed blowing snow advisories next time...
