if I'm not mistaken, this is the first UBI scheme where they aren't in some stupid endless "study" and finally have enough data to just simply DO it, and of course like all the studies showed, the result is a huge boost for the economy

Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

In fact, they are only one market. In addition to their use in product
development, the data digital platforms collect are sold off in a dense and well-developed
marketplace of advertisers, data brokers and investors. The same platform that delivers
curricular materials to students also harvests, for example, those students’ usage patterns,
performance data, and engagement metrics. All of these are valuable assets that platform
owners can leverage to enhance their own products, reinforce their market advantages, or
monetize through third-party data sharing, often without the knowledge or consent of stu -
dents, families, or educators. Such dynamics distinguish today’s platforms from traditional
ed tech tools like graphing calculators or overhead projectors, which served a single purpose
once purchased and which were unambiguously under the control of the schools that pur -
chased them.

Canada Post “lost” 1 billion dollars last year?

How about, “it cost Canadians 1 billion dollars to have a national postal service” which works out to costing about $25 a year per person (population of Canada in 2024 = 40 million). Seems like a pretty reasonable cost to me.

"Canada Post is a service and not a business" was common knowledge until late stage capitalism brain rotted most people into think if it ain't making money for shareholders, it's failing.
