This was surprising. Duval County School District, like many districts & govt agencies, has a portal to submit public records requests. But unlike others, it charges $7 service fee. When did service fees qualify as allowable charges? They're usually limited to copying & extensive staff time.

A lot of tension at Broward School Board meeting over employee discipline. Many firings and suspensions were on agenda today & union groups say recommendations were capricious or overly harsh. Most were postponed for further review. Here’s a resolution from employee groups.

Them’s fightin words. Tonight at a new Broward schools task force assigned to review future of advisory groups, member Pete Tingom said committees that fail to get quorum may have poor leaders. Reps of Technology Advisory Conmittee & Broward ESE Advisory are among those who fire back.

I got a rare thank you during Broward School Board public comments today. @trudyj.bsky.social voiced concerns about the dramatic reduction in what’s being taught in Florida sex ed classes, which I wrote about in several recent stories.

Update on complaint Nathalie Lynch-Walsh filed against 3 Broward School Board members. I reported last week a law firm hired by the district found no wrongdoing. The FLDOE inspector general’s office responded Monday saying they accepted findings & the case is closed. 1 of 2
