US media & tech oligarchs: The way to become even richer is for the US to follow Russia down the path to kleptocracy.

They haven't really thought it through.

When you're building a sky, use decent materials, people! Ice might be cheap but it soon starts crumbling and you spend a fortune on maintenance.

Have they tried *paying* them?

It's kumara farming:

Nothing so grand as Australia. The future is apparently kumara farming in Dargaville.

I wish I was joking.

Lazy-arse responsibility-dodging delegating dipstick is apparently the expert on 'work ethic' and 'team membership'.

"You only truly appreciate Gilgamesh when you hear it in the original Akkadian" was not something I expected to read today.

Great fanfic crossover possibilities.

While doing research on ancient languages for a novel I'm working on I discovered Dr. Martin Worthington at Cambridge University. After years of study, he's come up with an approximation of Akkadian. You can listen to The Epic of Gilgamesh here:

Hear The Epic of Gilgamesh Read in the Original Akkadian and Enjoy the Sounds of Mesopotamia
This clip gives you a taste of what Gilgamesh, one of the earliest known works of literature, sounds like in its mother tongue, Akkadian.

You have to admit, the bankrupt resource-extraction crowd get value for money. They only had to bribe the most despised MP of the most despised party in parliament for their "prop us up with $$$$" policy suggestion to become part of a whole coalition platform, with media expecting a bipartisan deal.
smutclyde.bsky.social
We need a bipartisan deal where Labour adopts Nat policies because this bankrupt extraction company won't go searching for gas that isn't there unless they can rely on being subsidized for searching for gas that isn't there.

That logistics stuff only matters when the people being killed and the property being smashed are in some other country.

Since the millers were also editors of the Special Issue they didn't care about making sense, only filling space. The clients who paid to be listed as authors cared even less.
We also encounter "Hugh change", which would have been "Hough Transform" in an unknown source document about iris scanning.
smutclyde.bsky.social
Another retracted piece from the Same SI was even more bonkers: the millers took a paper about surgeons using head movements to control telesurgery, & engarbled it to be about guards controlling a (murderous) Security Robot. Producing novel concepts like 'camera skillet'.

I grieve to report that this absolute mantlepiece of text engarblement has been depublished. Along with 13 others from the same thoroughly fraudulent Special Issue.

I included it in this report from the fake-science economy:

If you're looking for a nice thing to say about a zombie friend, "She looks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth" is generally true. Except on hot days.
