Genuine question, why is the Coast Guard involved at all? I thought they were a domestic force that does search and rescue, not whatever decidedly military action this is.

Tesla has good people, and has done good stuff. They also have some bad people and have done bad stuff. I wouldn't automatically presume anyone ex-Tesla is damaged goods, and goodness knows GM needs some lateral thinking. Only time will tell.
