look at the facts. gather as many facts as you can. try to remember moments in the past where you predicted disaster and it just straight up didn't happen. and if it did, you dealt with it. i know because you're reading this right now.

i just want to give some advice for those who might also recognize it: focus on the current state of things. don't try to predict the future. no one can do that. even if we could, anticipatory grief doesn't make it hurt less in the end. i know; i have experience with that too.

even when i briefly pop in i see posts that are just textbook catastrophizing. i recognize it all too well, it's a habit i've spent years trying to unlearn. you hear some bad news or you notice something 'off' and you twist it into an imaginary worst-case scenario.

social media is dangerous for people who suffer from anxiety. i'm realizing it more and more as i spend time away from it.

melia: Oh... my neck feels much better all of a sudden.
nia: Hrmm... ya 'urt it or something?
melia: I must have slept in an odd position last night. It's felt stiff all day. But it's like the pain magically disappeared...
panel 3:
nia: (looking away awkwardly) Tch. Don't look at me. I had no idea it was botherin' you.
melia: Could you have healed me... accidentally? (thinking) Was it her purring??
panel 4:
nia: N-no!! That's not how it works!
melia: (thinking) It MUST have been the purring.

panel 1: melia bumps her elbow on the corner of a table, says "OUCH!"
panel 2: melia has a look of realization on her face. she has an idea.
panel 3: nia is sitting in a recliner on her phone. melia stands behind her, looking fixated on nia's head. nia says "Hey, Mel."
panel 4: melia begins scratching nia's head, hoping to make her purr again.
nia: What are you doing???
melia: I uh... would you like... a-a head massage? You seem tense. Are you feeling tense?
panel 5:
nia: (grabs melia's hand) Arright, where's the injury?
melia: (sweating) Hah! Th-th-there's no injury!
nia: You're a shit liar. Your wings always curl up like that when you're lying.
panel 6: melia continues trying to make nia purr while nia frantically searches for the wound on melia's arm.
melia: Well, I guess we both have our little secrets... don't we?!
nia: (sweating) Rrrrngh-!
panel 7: nia finds the wound on melia's elbow and quickly uses her powers to heal it.
nia: There. Done.
panel 8: nia stares at melia with a defensive posture. melia is holding her arm and looking dejected.
panel 9: nia smiles sheepishly and says, "You may, uh... continue. Doing that." melia still looks dejected.
