I recently watched the movie "Number 24" on Netflix. It's the true story of a Norwegian resistance fighter during World War II. The physical & moral lengths they went to to defy Fascism and fight for freedom are sobering and important. This slang came from that time. Apropos for many in DC?

Let’s be extremely clear about what is happening at USAID:

The President is letting the wealthiest individual on the planet tear apart an organization that provides MEDICINE and FOOD to the poorest children on Earth.

The irony of the richest man in the world almost single-handedly destroying an agency designed to help the world’s poor, so that the U.S. federal budget has more room for another giant tax cut for the richest man in the world and his pals, should not be lost on anyone. [Cartoon by Mike Luckovich]

From @nytopinion.nytimes.com

“The Democratic Party is now in worse shape than at any time since 1980,” writes Doug Sosnik, who was a senior adviser to President Bill Clinton. But “history offers Democrats a blueprint for retaking power. The question is whether they will follow it.”

Beauty like this persists, even when there's so much ugliness in politics.
Some moody autumn atmosphere around this classic waterfall in the Pacific Northwest. Looks like we will finally be getting some snow here in the next week. Too bad this one is inaccessible in winter. Have a great weekend and thanks for taking a look and all of the support over here. Cheers gang!

Very well put. The big picture he talks about is scary as hell in terms of whether he would try to hold on to power during the next election cycle because he will have an internal army of loyalists to support dictatorship.
Trump is trying to “flood the zone” so we focus on a few outrages that we find most offensive and lose sight of the big picture.

Some thoughts on how to maintain focus. robertreich.substack.com/p/keep-your-...

Bravo to Sen. Alsobrooks for her question.

“We should not be giving Black people the same vaccine schedule as Whites because their immune system is better than ours.” — RFK Jr

This is the deadlier version of the racist myth that Black people feel less pain, leading to denied pain meds.

RFK Jr. is far more than just an “anti-vaxxer.” Over the years, he’s made countless outrageous statements on a wide range of topics. We’ve compiled 10 of the wildest clips—though even that barely scratches the surface.

If you’re feeling despair today, I understand.

But Trump’s second term will expose a reality that's been hidden from many Americans: the raw, stinking power of the American oligarchy.

I’m hopeful that America will see this reality for what it is and respond to it. youtu.be/bepjl3orz1A?...
