The recent school shooting and some other difficulties at work have had me really down. A couple of girls from last year stopped by to say hi and tell me how much they loved my class AND how much they learned. I might cry.

I RARELY assign something students can’t fix or redo if it needed. The only exception is a Socratic Seminar. After 2 days of detailed & scaffolded planning, & daily warnings that not being prepared or participating would result in failing, this was several students’ reaction to failing:
