But, as also pointed out, it's not going to work for the same reason the idiotic OSA we have here doesn't, and never will.

We feed in responsibilities to kids as they become old enough to appreciate the consequences and not be damaged by the act: alcohol, driving, nicotine, sex, gambling, etc.
Social media/internet use hasn't really been in the conversation (except COPPA) until now, and really should have been.

And it's not just about *us* trusting our kids. Half of parents couldn't care less what their kids are looking at on the doombox, and many more are far too tech-unsavvy to at least curate it. Our kids might be okay, but 50%+ of their peers are being actively brainwashed - at opinion-forming age.

Or... it isn't because they're all tied up with the same oligarchs pushing this crap.
Letting kids into this environment is like sending them to a school run by Nazis, where you know the headteacher and 60% of staff are nonces. But at least they're good at STEM and the kids socialise at break.

But with kids who haven't quite yet got their own opinions - indeed forming independent opinions happens around age 12+ on average - suddenly being exposed to a woman-hating (/using), racist, fascist agenda is so intensely, lifelong harmful it's amazing no government has stepped in before.

Especially as kids love attention. No matter how diligent you are, you can never give your kids enough attention and there's this glowing box that's full of strangers willing to provide it, instantly in things like WhatsApp groups.

I'm not a massive fan of any occasion when government acts in loco parentis... but...

As far as I know, it came to us from another forum - a German bodybuilding one, IIRC - so we definitely didn't originate it but nobody's been able to find anything predating us on English-speaking sites.

I've seen this on so many cars that originate with a Japanese brand (and one E46 imported from Japan) that I always assumed it was because of the cultural significance of golf in Japan.
