This is the sort of thing that happens when someone spends too many days without seeing sunlight

The touchpad is certainly not easy to manage, Acura is phasing it out in their remaining lineup because it’s just that bad. The reason I’m okay with it is because the controls I truly care about are accessible elsewhere. Only navigation and audio are on the display and it’s easy enough for that

These people spend too much time in front of their computer and not enough doing anything more productive. Their malice is cowardice. You’re stronger than they are because you’re living your authentic truth. They’re miserable. Don’t let them make you miserable too.

See, I'm coming from a 2023 Acura TLX. The interior is a sea of buttons, with no touch screen at all. You have to use a trackpad instead. It's so far in the other direction from the touch-screen focused cars I've seen, it's a little frustrating to use the navi / CarPlay.

Definitely climate controls, to begin with. Vents need to have physical controls, as does the temperature, surface heating and cooling (seats, steering wheel, armrest if applicable). I haven’t been inside a new BMW yet so I’m working off marketing materials here but there are probably others!

I'm interested in the future of BMW, but their current lack of physical controls leads to poor ergonomics and safety for the driver. It's a machine that doesn't give much consideration to the dangers of distracted driving. For that reason, I intend to wait until this changes to buy my next vehicle.

BMW has done great work engineering their electric drivetrains. I just question their focus on digital dashboards and infotainment -- is the i3 going to be a software-defined vehicle? Will it contain nothing but a giant touch screen and a long curved display, no physical controls, like the iX3?
