This has been one of my favourite albums for a long time. The lyrics are efficient in establishing an atmosphere and Black Francis’ vocals are satisfyingly expressive. The instrumentation is incredible as well.

Aladdin Sane - David Bowie

I’m especially fond of the piano solo in this one - supposedly, Mike Garson (pianist) demonstrated both a blues and a latin inspired solo but Bowie rejected these, requesting a more “avant-garde” jazz sound. Incredible.
