Besides all the usual tricks like breathing in when you stick and such, I also got one of those prickly pads that you press onto your skin to mask the sensation of the needle. I used that a few times, especially when I thought my vasovagal reaction was going to be trouble.

Yeah, overriding your self-preservation instinct is exhausting at first. It took me a few weeks of three times a week shots for it to become routine. But it did become routine, it's no harder than swallowing a pill now!

I've been on an injected medication for about a year and a half, it gets easier! Hang in there, and rotate injection sites.

I'm just waiting for FedEx to some day lose one of my medication shipments. It's Medicare that pays for them and they get a steep discount, but I would still delight in telling FedEx that drug is $3mil a year (retail, but still)
