Is the answer "to generate electricity", by any chance?

The mandatory signage on the EU passport lane says "EU/EEA/CH Citizens", in English, plus local language(s).

Honestly, I am unsighted as to what additional verbiage is required to make that clearer. A residence card does not grant citizenship.

(And yes, FAOD (selfishly) I really wish @consilium.europa.eu would change this - now the non-EU line will be even slower, it just seems spiteful not to let EU residents use the EU lane - particularly as the biometric residence card is technically perfectly capable of operating the eGates as well...

But permanent residence holders have never been entitled to use the EU/EEA/CH lanes. So it is true to say nothing has changed for us - we still queue in the same queue, and we won't have to give fingerprints/face scans (not least, because we already did when we got our biometric residence cards.)

It's not at all unclear - you are not entitled to use the EU/EEA/CH passport line. The rules are entirely clear - you queue in the non-EU line.

You might *get away* with using the EU line, but that's just luck.

I wish it wasn't so (I also have EU perm residence,) but it's not ambiguous.

I learned Romanian in my 40s - which has grammar that is an absolute bitch - so everything is possible. Of course living here helps somewhat...

This is a very good reason to avoid Dreamliners. The other being that it's a Boeing.

(And it's not the pilot doing that, it's the cabin crew knowing they can kick back in the galley for a chat (and hand out fewer freebies) if it's dark. Enshittification of air travel continues apace.)

Without wishing to argue your basic point, surely a binary search is only relevant when searching in an ordered set (i.e. when you bisect the set, you know if your answer is before or after the cut.) That doesn't seem to apply to searching for a random event in a video feed..?

I am here to shill for `just` instead. OK, it's not a replacement for what `make` was designed to be good for (but who is using plain make for that these days...,) but it's a much better replacement for what everyone *actually* uses it for.

Hell, it's the same in Romania, one of the poorest countries in Europe.

(And yeah, it's imperfect, God knows our system needs investment. But you *will* get care, even if the hospital looks like it might fall down around your ears...)
