I forget if this was confirmed to be The Reason but apparently they just remade a lot of assets for that, then proceeded to *not* reuse that stuff for Spiderman 2 so they spent 300+ mil on that

Digimon World Dusk
Very basic RPG with an addicting gameplay loop. Has fucking gorgeous spritework, but the game's mechanics barely get time to be explored in its surprisingly brief runtime. Also the story is almost nonexistent lol

oh wow really? Thought it'd be a 4kids situation where every other dub is forced to be based on their scripts
which apparently led to problems when 4kids did incredibly american pop culture jokes. like there's a pokemon episode that's apparently just nonsense in other dubs because of that

I've literally started setting 2 alarms, one a few minutes after the other, in vain hope that it will not have me oversleep for 2 hours every time I try to fix my sleep schedule

its really funny that people pushed this show as like, a Hitpiece on the genre when you look at it and half the humor that isnt sexual is riffing on highly specific tropes only a fan would care about. and the anime apparently got a precure composer to work on it
