sorry i think ur confused. i'm talking about training, like, autoencoders for clustering applications in scientific research which IS ALSO ML WHICH IS AI and ur talking like venture capitalists trying to make puppets out of pics of ppl's dead relatives is the only thing that the word "AI" refers to.

haha, yeh, that one is pretty bad too, but I think info and optimization disasters are worse even than global climate change ( which is contributing to the Anthropocene extinction event ! very bad !!! ) because info disasters can be self reinforcing and sabotage recovery even worse than fukd climate

But it seems very extreme and much less to be successful to try to ban all ML rather than target specific, particularly immoral applications, and since we need to identify those immoral applications in order to determine ML is harmful, why not just target those harmful applications?

yeh that's fine but what if the use of ML aka AI could improve things for human life and life in general? It sounds like you are asserting that all use of ML is strictly harmful which... just isn't true. Or you're asserting banning all ML is worth doing to remove harmful uses. There i mostly agree.

but i suppose most ppl aren't aspiring to understand or alter any AI techniques, they just wanna duck tape models together to make an app annoy users more effectively... if that... many just wanna tell an AI to come up with ideas and code for them... fuk fuk fuk...

i have this same issue about ppl not caring about classical AI... like... all the systems that use ML to act as agents are some form of classic AI. Gosh fuk i wish the word "AI" was erased and we could just talk about neural nets and RL and agents. The word "AI" is a blight on public understanding.

Dum ppl have dum citational practice and depressed ppl kill themselves. This is bad but not new. But I agree AI is the most significant global catastrophic risk (GCR) rn. That means i think it's the most significant problem humanity is currently facing... i dunno how u expect me to b more concerned.

Frightfully, i kinda support that practice. I would like people to boycott those companies, but just considering practicality, they are useful for locating key(words/phrases) to use searching for resources less likely to hallucinate. If the keyword was hallucinated it should be easy to tell.

i agree with everything u just said i am indeed eternally RAGING FUKKING PISSED OFF about AI, but i still like unsupervised AI and think we should aspire to stop it's misuse and apply it in beneficial directions.

i kno it's really popular to hate AI right now... and i want that to continue... we haven't reached sufficient or effective enough hate for AI yet... but all the same, generative AI is an extension of unsupervised AI which is what powers Alpha Fold which is certainly helpful for medical.

I think you're thinking of companies that seek profit without regard to morality... hahaha... AI as a technology is also doing good things and could be doing more good if more effort was put in those directions and less in awful bullshit directions.
