And from Belgium, it’s the more than welcome return of Chamber #Prog legends Univers Zéro…

Just participated remotely in a roundtable in Rome, and going on from there to finish the evening with some music from France and Belgium, starting with Magma offshoot One Shot’s lovely homage to the much-missed guitarist James Mac Gaw. #Prog

Maybe some lovely Spanish electronica to follow that ? Better cover too. #Prog

Definitely one of those albums where the truly awful cover does not represent the quality of the music within… #Prog

And then there are a few new encyclopaedia entries and an article in Italian about destructive polarisation (soon also to come out in English). More about those in the blog post: snurb.info/node/3532.

With colleagues in Hamburg and Bremen, we also examined how Australian and German media cover mainstream and fringe climate protests. There are some clear but different divergences here too (original presentation here: snurb.info/node/3048).

My colleague Katharina Esau led our analysis of media polarisation in Australia during the Voice to Parliament referendum, where we found some complex and diverging patterns (original presentation here: snurb.info/node/3297).

With Simon Copland and Timothy Graham, I analysed the dissemination of Sky News Australia videos on Facebook, and found three distinct but overlapping audiences, in Australia and overseas (original presentation here: snurb.info/node/2626).

Post a pic of the venue where you saw your first concert and the band or artist.

Back at Lang Park for the first time in a long time to see the Roar (though frankly also to see Hannover 96 legend Hiroki Sakai live his best life as Auckland FC captain). #BRIvAKL

And perhaps some Kanaan to finish the night’s listening… #Prog
January 8, 2026 at 12:45 PM
Much more recent, but another early album by a band that wasn’t quite fully formed yet: _II_, by Greek #Prog band Naxatras.

Before Amon Düül II there was Amon Düül I – and they weren’t exactly sure what they were doing… #Prog
January 8, 2026 at 11:19 AM
And on to a quick trip down Elephant9’s _Mythical River_ to end an evening well spent. #Prog
January 5, 2026 at 1:24 PM
And on from there to something a lot more recent: Steven Wilson’s somewhat uneven 2023 album _The Harmony Codex_. #Prog
January 5, 2026 at 12:14 PM
Finally catching up with some music again, and first up tonight is the rerelease of the second, self-titled album by Renaissance spinoff Illusion… #Prog

🇮🇹 Oh look what just arrived in the office – I guess I’ve been published in Italian again ! Congratulations on a fine collection, @gboccia.bsky.social (and what a cover !)…

Guess now we know how many Zs it takes to translate “destructive polarisation” into Italian, too (‘polarizzazione’ 😲).

And ready for another concert, with Steven Wilson’s Overview tour at the QPAC Concert Hall. Last Night of the tour, I think ?

😲 Ooooh, the full programme for the @qutdmrc.bsky.social Summer School 2026 is out now, and it's full of sciencey goodness. If you were still on the fence about signing up, you have until 19 Dec. to do so. ⌛

The Summer School dates are 2-6 Feb. 2026. #dmrcss26

Never thought I’d say this, but we may be a little _too_ close to the front for Cowboy Junkies at the Fortitude ?

It’s not just me, is it ? For some reason Google has changed the colour of unclicked links on its search results pages to a lighter, horrible-looking almost baby blue colour recently, right ?

Frankly this annoys me more than the intrusive AI Overviews.
