At tue other end of the spectrum, Richard Neal, who’s much more of an establishment Democrat, faced a primary challenge from Alex Morse, who’s much was Mayor of Holyoke at the time, young, gay, and progressive. The party put on a full court press for Neal, and worked to smear Morse. :-/

This came up in our district a few years back. Mike Capuano was a solid progressive rep with a long history in the community, twenty years in office, nine as mayor before that. Lots of folks questioned why primary him, of all the reps in the state. But then we got Ayanna Presley.

I’ve had more than one former preschool student show up as someone I might know.
