I would be tempted to drop Brook even just for one match. Considering his talent he has been a disgrace. Pope at 5 for the next match to put a rocket up him. Won’t happen.

There is the core of a team there like has been said they need to play like it’s a test match. I get that previously England batting sometimes went nowhere (100 balls for 15 runs before getting out) but there is a happy medium in there.

I was living in Ireland at the time (republic) but the Northern Irish matches to me as boy sounded like the team were going into unknown lands.

Totally agree. The commentary from Mexico in 1986 sounded genuinely groundbreaking

Couldn’t agree more. I broadly think ‘bazball,’ is a good way forward but you have to recognise when you are on top and the batters should have been aware of the need to give bowlers a rest.

Early days and half term. It will pick up. Certainly many more there later for half term leisure travel but difficult to say for sure on numbers given the opening event/steam train visit that was ongoing.
