On the other hand, though, men and women should both have the option to say no, although in most cases both parties want it, women seeking validation and men wanting a one-night stand. And it seems that is how the cycle goes.

In the Hook up Culture article, it talks about how “women give men what they want, without regarding their feelings” and the hook up culture matches that. Women look for men’s attention to feel validated, and that goes back to the fact of men’s dominance.

An article that was earlier in the semester talked about the show Euphoria and how the women were oversexualized. These assumptions were made by men, portraying women in that sort of light of being sexual objects.

Onto the next point, regarding Zoom, and how men change their backgrounds more often than women, I think that this is another way in which men assert their dominance, choosing from the many different backgrounds more so than women. However, they are not judged or ridiculed for it.

Also, the film showcased the women’s liberation movement, connecting it to gender and social norms that were in place at the time, which I found interesting.

The play with premarital sex being more socially accepted, and the need for a “one night stand” etc has me thinking about the relationship between the two on a sociological scale of how people prefer to be married but often get “caught up” in doing it casually anyway.

More casual hookups, more premarital sex. These casual hookups have become more and more accepted, even among teens, which then may lead to teen pregnancy, in short.

Coming from the textbook chapter, I never knew that a summer break was technically a social thing, I always thought it was institutionalized from the beginning, never thought of it coming about in a socialized way like that.

In the MRS article, she explains that the norm of “housewife” has turned into women wanting to obtain careers and college degrees, and it shows how higher education can lead to a successful career, especially from the outlook of women.

Going through the history of a gender segregated bathroom, were put in place for hygiene purposes, and privacy. Privacy should be a right to everyone, and through the gender segregated bathroom, it helps towards that. It was interesting to read about the history of how it came about.

I liked how the softball article brings up the fact that softball is distinct, and about the fact that both men and women swim, ski, and etc. It was an interesting fact and way that it was conveyed in such a relevant way.

The race to replace article showcases solutions like implementing handicaps, in order to balance competition regardless of sex, and I think that is very interesting, given many women who may want to participate in football, for example.

Female empowerment should be something felt, which could lead to ending these stereotypes placed on women.

Empowerment shouldn’t be something placed on marketing ads, because it places more of a stereotype and could leave room for low self-esteem to show up on the scene.

In the NY Times article, it highlighted how men look at women based on physical attractiveness, and how they look on the outside. Also, Black and Latinos are more likely to have motivated attitudes about gender equality.

In the infantilization of women article, it relates to the oversexualization article, in the sense that women are constantly being judged for the way they look. The example of body hair, and wanting to remove it, because it is looked upon a certain way if not.

The "clean eating" article, like everything else on social media, contains exaggerated information on things that "make you stronger" just so someone can purchase the product, and making it seem as if it indeed works. And that problem within social media goes beyond only masculinity.

The article on Bazaar, reading the introductory story was shocking. Kelly was burdened with her boyfriend's problems, but the one time she was in need, because of exhaustion, he could not even show up, insane.

The textbook chapter brings up points about both women and men. In one aspect, it talks about women and how they had to obey the male head or be punished for it. In the male aspect, they were expected to be heads of the household and leaders, when it came down to decision making
