Went to watch the cx races today. It was my first time seeing something like this but it fun.

The supportive nature of the spectators to the newbies and the kids was great to see, as well as the light taunts to the veteran racers.

I saw a placard for “winter banana” apples at the store a week ago but no apples. Today they had a few and they do in fact have a very slight banana flavor. In a few bites it almost tasted like a hint of melon.
Two apples sit on a white cutting board. The apples are somewhat oddly shaped with some sides looking like they’re bulging out a bit more, sort of like heirloom tomatoes. The apples are yellow greenish with one having a slight reddish blush in two sides.

Saw this research and test car in my ride today. Curious when that was last used and where it’s heading.
A silver rail car that looks like a passenger rail car in that it has a number of windows along the side and a side door in the back. At the top of the car it says Burlington northern Santa fe. At the bottom in the center is the bnsf logo with a line graph coming out of it and looks like a pulse monitor line that flattens after a few bumps. On top of the line it says kootenai river and belies the line it says research and test car.

Some skeleton bikes at bike disco.

I checked out the new bike trail. It’s nice but after having ridden the closed lane for ages, the crossings are annoying.

The terminal 91 trail in Interbay is open and ready for the commute tomorrow. It feels so much more spacious. I will not miss the pinch point at the bottom of the bridge ramp.

I’m so happy about the new Georgetown bike lanes so i can now safely get to my favorite cake place.

I rode to the opening party, grabbed cake, rode to Georgetown, then down to Renton and back. Didn’t expect to do 57 miles but it was great weather for it.

Did a nice ride out to a beach today! It was great weather and some of the new trails are nice. Others still need to be patched.

Biked across the soon-to-be-demolished pedestrian bridge four times today. I enjoyed having some height to look around, but i won’t miss the awful choke point.

Looks like the vehicles are ready to go.

It gets worse. It dumps you onto this tiny island where you have to either cross to the sidewalk or ride in a merging lane. The sidewalk is also awful. There's a autobody shop that often blocks the sidewalk. Streetview shows a good day.

There's about 1.5 ft clearance on the side of the telephone pole on the sidewalk. Some cars parked partially on the sidewalk from an autobody shop, which narrows the usable sidewalk.

Tried to stay cool by biking to the ferry then hanging with a friend in Port Townsend. Cute ferry town. Way more bikes than i expected.

I biked around the southern part of the lake today. I left late but still ran into some obliteride folks.

Trails are definitely lacking in that southeastern area except a small section of eastrail, but it was good ride! Hit bicycle weekend on the way back, which was nice.

I forgot it was sea fair today and biked across the i90 bridge. It ended up not being too bad, so i headed to issaquah before heading north to woodinville and then shoreline and lynnwood. Perfect weather.

Biked to see a friend today and decided to check out songs other things like the start of the Sound to Olympics trail.

In the way home i had a new first- a cyclist fist bumped me after we reached a red light. I’d been behind him for a while and he was going a decent speed.

The trail the ones of the first sections of the the sound-to-olympics trail. A giant rusted metal tube with a massive door that was used to pressure treat lumber. It’s about 6-7 feet tall with a small track inside that was used to cart in the woods. There’s some signs describing this inside The tube and the inside of the door. A sign at the museum describing the origin of pickleball in baibbridge island. The text says: Joel peitchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum invented pickleball in the island in the summer of 1965. When their children complained of boredom, Pritchard proposed they invent a new game using materials readily available, including a badminton court, ping pong paddles, and a whiffle ball. You can take 25th/26th through montlake and if you go to the arboretum E Interlaken Blvd is decent and across 24th it becomes (briefly) car-free and connects to your existing route.

This is area where they added "No public urniation" signs and told people to bike 1.5 miles to Medina City Hall a few years back.

Haven’t biked far north much this year so decided to head to Everett, which was delightful. I wish there was a decent way to go further.

Grabbed a sandwich. Visited a beach. Then met a friend in Lynwood for ice cream from the Thai place.

Did not expect to see a fire along the trail today.

Seems pretty useful to have this trail so the firebricks can flank the fire.

Ended up turning around so only got ~77 miles down to auburn. The ride ended up being an eventful.

Had some guy creeping when i stopped for pastries.

Found someone’s wallet in the road.

Ran into a woman who wanted me to go with her past some creepy guys.

What a ride.
A pedestrian bridge that’s rusted seen from on the bridge itself. There’s graffiti on various parts including the text “thinking of you… always” A pastry from a Mexican bakery. It’s a white cake with chocolate ganache in it and covered with cream and a dollop of red jelly that i think is supposed to be strawberry, but honestly doesn’t have much of a flavor. Some piece of artwork in a church parking lot compound. It looks like cacti but brown like a tree and there are giant mushroom like flat-ish domes sticking out on them that are green. There’s what looks like a statue of Jesus in the middle but dwarfed by the mushroom cacti.

Beautiful early ride for bicycle weekend, where even my baker made an appearance. Maybe it was the time, but i saw way more pale this time.

Also really appreciate the art in Sturgus Park, including my favorite titled “equality”.

Biked up to take the ferry to see a friend today and have a short walk. Not many cyclists out today except for the 2 group rides i ran into in my way home. I was the only bike on the way home and possibly on the ride out too.

Did a bicycle weekend ride down to Seward Park, where there was an event with tents and music. A lovely ride and stop in the park aside from the nasty headwind on the way home.

There were fewer people on the blvd than usual— probably because of pride. I had on my rainbow socks to celebrate.

Did a 68 mile ride today. I had a longer one planned, but got a late start and around 25 miles my legs were already feeling it. Got a second wind around 40, but i decided not to push it.
