Banning Heartfire Hero in Pioneer based on BO1 when MTGO conversion rates look like this is so baffling. The deck's popular because WOTC won't give Pioneer players a reason to innovate so people are just playing the most linear option to push through challenges. Frustrating.

This is only true because there are no events so people are using the most linear braindead deck to grind MTGO events. Even the arena ladder isn't dominated by monoR. Do they even play the format?

Tears of Metal is a musou-inspired action game that has darkest dungeon-esque meta progression. Aside from the obvious annoyance at the roguelite stuff, this game fucks. Scottish independence as a backdrop for a musou is a combination I had no idea would work so well but so far this is a favorite.

Homurahime is a pretty stylish action game, clearly pulling from Platinum's style. A bit of platforming, some QTEs, a broken dodge and parry mechanic, the usual. In stills (2D and 3D assets alike) it's quite attractive, but the animation work and combat feel (especially hitstop) is janky.

Bloomkeeper is basically a sheep herding puzzle game? Vibe is pikmin-y but the gameplay is quite different. It works well, though, and the game is very pretty. Relaxing puzzle game for folks who dig the concept.

Alchemist's Alcove is a traditional roguelike with a really involved crafting system. Gives me a bit of Noita vibes or similar. I enjoy a dungeon crawler and this one seems solid, but I didn't put in the time to really see how deep the crafting can go.

Added a demo to my list: BIRDCAGE. Really promising shmup with cave/eighting vibes with a touch of ikaruga. I really wish it supported keyboard or stick better (especially given how twitchy it is), but if you're fine with playing pad it's worth a gander.

I would like to start losing to something new, but I do not currently have the brain power to invest into not losing to the same things I've been losing to for the last 5 months.

NextFest demos to play...

We'll see how much time and energy I have to put into playing these. I've been getting my ass beat at work.
