In 2004 the Campaign Against Homophobia appealed to the Institute of National Remembrance to destroy any of these files they may have due to concerns of continued blackmail. The Institute rejected the request. (9/9)

Once Communism ended it is unclear what happened to the information collected in these files, though it is likely that these files still exist either in the security apparatus or the Institute of National Remembrance. (8/9)

When individuals were detained they were often tortured. These arrests had no legal basis as there were no laws in the PRL that criminalized being queer. During the operation it is thought that mostly gay men were targeted, though it is not known if this was exclusive. (7/9)

Up to 12,000 so-called pink folders were created by communist authorities. The folders contained a signed statement declaring that the individual was a homosexual, but also private information. This was then used to blackmail detained individuals. (6/9)

The action, although massively increasing in the scale of detention, integration, and registration of queer people was a continuation of prior policy. (5/9)

The goal of the operation was to create a national database of all Polish homosexuals. The action was justified as a way to contain the spread of the HIV virus. This is unlikely to be the case due to the low number of HIV cases in Poland at the time. (4/9)

Operation Hyacinth is one of these acts that deserves more discussion. During the years 1985-1987 the Security Service and the Citizen’s Militia on the orders of Minister of Internal Affairs Czesław Kiszczak conducted a mass operation of detainment and integration of Polish homosexuals. (3/9)

That which is discussed and justified still focuses on the impacts on a narrow group of Poles, leaving other crimes, often some of the worst committed by the Polish communist authorities, forgotten. (2/9)

The United States has committed a crime with these strikes under international law. We condemn these actions, the undemocratic nature by which they were made, and the impact of them. (17/17)

Empires have in the past said “We will be home by Christmas”, it will be “a 10 day special military operation”, but this is rarely true. Empires too often overestimate their own strength and underestimate that of their target. (16/17)

It is easy to start a war, it is easy to choose violence when you are not the one who will be on the front lines, it's hard to end a war. (15/17)

The Iranian people should decide their fate, not foreign bombs, soldiers, or dethroned kings. True strength is choosing diplomacy instead of preemptive military strikes. (14/17)

However, what is most important is that an invasion of Iran will not liberate the Iranian people or peace in the region. After these strikes we are farther from peace, and more people will die for the ambitions of Oligarchs, despots, and dictators. (13/17)

Countries who may in the past have believed that they did not need nuclear bombs to maintain their national security, will reconsider. (12/17)

Both Iran and Ukraine were promised by large imperial powers that as long as they did not have nuclear devices, their sovereignty and security would be secured. This however has been shown to be false. (11/17)

These strikes on Iran by the United States, just as with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, also may lead to increased nuclear proliferation. (10/17)
June 22, 2025 at 5:08 PM
If these strikes mean that a war with Iran has started, this will mean a more destabilized Middle East, more support for Russia’s imperial ambition, the continued suffering of Palestinians, and death. (9/17)

These and other criminal actions by Iran may have some in Ukraine and elsewhere supporting the Trump administration's actions in Iran. However this would be a mistake (8/17)

Currently Iran is aiding Russia's imperialist invasion of Ukraine by providing military equipment to Russia. Including some of the very drones that Russia uses to target civilians. (7/17)

Let us be clear, we do not support the Islamic Republic of Iran. As a regional imperial power Iran has engaged in all the tactics of other imperial powers including, ethnic cleansing, creation of puppet states, and wars of aggression. (6/17)

These actions likely had more to do with Netanyahu attempting to hold on to power than national security concerns. (5/17)
