I very much agree. I can't even distinguish which one is fanon or canon anymore.
I'm someone who likes to keep a pretty firm boundary between my fanon and canon. This means my ships (unless clearly romantic in the show) stay separated from the canon of the series in my mind, allowing space for other interpretations.
