Well you can get versions to backlight TV sets cheap at Walmart to run tests with, they also make out door versions for Christmas you can try the cheap short version there to see if you need to really invest in something

Depends, I know they make battery powered ones, I know you cam cut the tapes to fit because I have tape strip leds as lights in my apartment, I know they can be remote controlled and even programmed for timing. I'd hop on Amazon and go digging you'll likely find what you want there that or etsy
