Currently putting my lifetime record as a reader on StoryGraph. No reviews, just books. Same handle as on Bluesky, follow me there & I’ll reciprocate.📚
When I started “Every Living Thing” by Jason Roberts last week I didn’t even know it was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Biography; found out today it won. It’s amazing, especially if you like reading about the 18th Century. #bookthreads

I try not to be judgmental, but this request should NOT have been necessary🤳⚰️

I equalled my best time for #NYTsoduku at 32K feet with a mild to moderate buzz from airplane Chardonnay. Rarely drink in on planes but I got an upgrade. #alcoholataltitude #NYTgames

One current read is “Tell Me Everything” by #ElizabethStrout @lizstrout.bsky.social. I initially thought TME (full of confessions & outpourings per title) was overdoing her deceptively prosaic way of rolling out plot & dialogue, but it has grown on me. Very compelling & satisfying! #bookthreads

Heading to LaGuardia in a rideshare, just enjoying having #AirTags on all of my essential items so I can confirm they’re with me and not having to panic-rifle through my stuff! #TravelAnxiety

Anyone using @thestorygraph.com? I’m not posting any opinions, just using it to create an imperfect record of my many decades as a reader. My #storygraph handle is solelyannesopinion. If you have a beefy or skinny booklist, would like to meet you there. #booksky

If you are quick doing a #duolingo exercise it tells you you’re speedy and you’re slow it says you’re committed. It never says you’re a dumbass! The closest it comes is “Take a deep breath.” I love accurate #feedback that stays positive! Plus it works.

Escaping into a post World War II sharp British comedy of manners, Barbara Pym’s “Excellent Women.” One good thing about living today is that a huge backlist of books neither new nor super famous is there for the download. Take advantage! #booksky

@thestorygraph.com I’m working on a lifetime reading record on your platform. Issue: I’ve been a pretty serious reader since around 1960. Many of the editions that I read predate any of the choices that come up. Is there a generic edition option?

I’m trying to enter every book I’ve ever read in the best chronological order I can recall into @thestorygraph.com. Help me Hercules (&Athena) because I’ve been a book fanatic since circa 1960 🧒🏻📚!

Rereading “Great Expectations.” Prior experience once each in HS & college. I remembered the dramatic parts accurately, but fabric of Pip’s early home life & Miss Havisham’s social circle had washed out of 🧠. Greatly enjoying my return visit. #booksky #Dickens #GreatExpectations

Since deleting the #Facebook app from my phone (I still have the account but am significantly less active) I’ve started getting email alerts about friends’ posts, which is new to me. Wily, but it won’t work. #Meta

Now that I’ve had consumer level AI for a while, even without using it much, I’ve seen its capacity for 🧠 improvement, 🧠 augmentation, 🧠 stroking (harmless entertainment) and 🧠 rot. Seems like the last 2 are the human default ☹️😨. #brainrot

Took Facebook off my phone, keeping account for now. If I decide to let the whole thing go, I can easily save everything that’s memorable. I HAVE enjoyed keeping up with hometown ppl I don’t see IRL and don’t have an alternative strategy. #leavingmeta

It’s hard for me to make a clean break with #Meta products because FB keeps me in touch with the community where I grew up and my experience IG is very positive because of the way I curate my feed. I did delete FB from mobile devices & that move nudged my quality of life up a bit.

I used to read lots of mysteries & thrillers but at my age most of them give me severe déja vu so I’m selective. Liz Moore’s “The God in the Woods” involved me on many levels and deploys multiple POV & broken timeline to maximum effect. #crimefiction

I was so thrilled to see a story about something powered by AI that looked all around beneficial instead of terrifying that a share seemed in order. Warning, there’s a short ad at the beginning of the clip.

@rebeccamakkai.bsky.social I was expecting to like “I Have Some Questions for You” and I do, but little anticipated meeting a character who would champion my seemingly lost cause, “It’s zo-ology not zoo-ology FFS” which I picked up from my long deceased sixth grade teacher Elsie Bunyan. #zoology

Reading Rachel Aviv’s original & compelling “Strangers to Ourselves” prompted me me to read her New Yorker article on #LucyLetby Wow. I had assumed LL was guilty as convicted, but now I’m thinking that a criminal case based on a certain framing of statistics may be more apparent than real. #truerime
