Comparing the private sector in France or Sweden with the UK, as McRae does here, is a misnomer. They aren't the same at all.
In FR they are religious (mostly if not all Catholic) & largely not elite in status or intake (vs UK anyway). In SWED free schools are more similar to English free schools.
