Unfortunately I'm in the navy and often deploy, and can't bring a tower with me, so I've sucked it up and bought gaming laptops the past few years. My kids have proper towers that I can keep upgrading incrementally.

Bought for $200us while I was in Pearl, and two years later came back and the dude was still selling them (old business assets) so I bought another one for $150 :P

For a long time my daily driver was a hugely-upgraded ThinkPad T61p. Still hands-down the best laptop keyboard I've ever typed on, and it had GT730M discrete graphics, I rode that thing into the ground.

It still astonishes me whenever I see one of those huge trucks these days and the length is 1/3 hood, 1/3 cab and only 1/3 cargo bed. Like, what utility are you actually expecting to get out of this thing.

I once hit a pedestrian in the bike lane, he leapt into it over a concrete barrier as I was going downhill at closing in on 40kph, right in front of me, zero time to react.
I got wedged under a car (stopped in traffic thank fuck) and the bike was a writeoff. Dude I hit didn't have a scratch. 😵
