Design-wise I didn't do anything *too* complex. Just simple shapes doing simple things. But there's also value in imagining your own story for why your character is in this situation.

For the controls specifically, I mulled over the controls scheme a few times and think I'm happy enough with this as the default controls.

But I think implementing customizable controls would be for the best so players can feel the most comfortable with their own desired control schemes.

Honestly, I could keep going on forever about this game, but that said, I feel like this post at least gives a somewhat vision of what I'm trying to create here

Maybe I can make a follow-up post talking about each of the planets that can be visited

But I think this is enough for now.

While in the Super State, each of the four main characters have their own innate passives and abilities that activate for the duration as the Tension Gauge burns down to empty. At any time during this Super State, players can activate their ultimate ability, which ends the Super State early

Perfect parries allow the player to act with very brief invulnerablity frames to do whatever. What these parries *also* do is fill your Tension Gauge much faster.

The Tension Gauge will be a yellow bar next to the players' health and, upon being full auto-enter the player into their "Super State"

The next 2 mechanics are not Dnd inspired, but are the most important ones in my opinion. These are Tension Gauge & Perfect Parries. Let's start with parries, which are easier to explain. By blocking just before taking any damage, players perform a perfect parry. Nothing new here, let's keep going

Moving on, we also have the "Faint state" in which a player is left in a vulnerable state where they can't move and must have an ally pick them back up, or mash to revive themselves. However, enemies can attack Faint State players with some, even specifically targeting such players

These Equippables are planned to be super customizable and be allowed to get actually powerful with enough combining (I have an entire pdf on how the Equippable system works, but I'll spare that for now lol)

The space traveling aspect was inspired by StarBound, a game I spent a lot of time in a good few years ago.

Onto other mechanics, We have some Dnd inspired ones as well.

Players have 3 slots for "Equippables" that range from granting passive abilities to altering a character's stats entirely

Players will have a hub of sorts via their space craft named The Satelle. From here, players can choose from a selection of available worlds to travel to.

Each world has its own sub story, open map, unique enemies & traps, dungeons/caves, as well as settlements to visit

Onto actually at least describing the concept of the game, The setting can be summed up as "Dnd if the universe developed to have Star Wars level technology"

Gameplay itself will be a 2D perspective platformer adventure akin to that of Adventure mode in Smash Brawl with a bit different of physics

For the time being, however, I try to find time to teach myself about coding (I have absolutely *no* background in this lol)

I'm also learning FL Studio because I guess I like to torture myself

The goal right now is to at least make a demo of sorts to actually show off

At the current stage I'm at, I need to save up to upgrade my pc so that I can begin actually working on the game properly.

As of this post, the general story is pretty much done more or less, the actual game mechanics have been designed to my liking, most enemies have been designed, and the main character's movesets have all been written and are being fine tuned.
