Zuversicht - Nils Wülker

Nils was unknown to me, but the rest of the personnel are all jazz heavyweights. A solid listen that I will definitely come. back to.

Cosmique Hyptnotique (self-titled)

This record sounds like what you'd get if you'd asked a talented high-schooler to compose an avant-garde soundtrack for Spongebob Squarepants.

Rites & Revelations - Laura Jurd

One of the few albums that's given me a similar listening experience as Bitches Brew. The best avant garden record I've heard in a while.

Saddened by the apparent demise of music? The world of jazz is thriving and offers the spontaneity and human connection you might be craving.

Minimal - Percussions de Strasbourg

A mallet percussion record that evoked some strong but forgotten memories. Oh, and it also has some beautiful music on it.

I took a chance on an electronic record and was pleasantly surprised. Maybe I need to listen to more electronic music...

A fascinating study in texture that prompted me to reflect on what makes repetition in music interesting and not boring.

Congrats to pianist Sullivan Fortner on his Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album for 2025’s “Southern Nights.”

Here’s Sullivan and trumpeter Theo Croker performing “Prayer For Peace,” which isn’t from that record but well worth a listen.
