Food prices up 37% in the last 5 years.

@sainsburys.bsky.social 's profit: over £1 billion this year.

It's all alright though; they're teaming up with @thecomicrelief.bsky.social this Christmas to tackle food poverty.

Phew.

The depth of isolation my husband and I live within stuns me. Not in terms of friendships or meaning or how we connect to place, but how few systems of support and resource we have to support us when in emergency.

I spent a lot of my life believing that I'm socially shy and a bit introverted but it turns out that I just don't enjoy people talking over each other, people talking at me rather than to me, and meeting new people that only talk to people they already know.

We humans seem to be ecological creatures, living within an ecological universe, shaping & shaped by ecological beings and happenings.

From ecosystems to social systems, technology to language, chemical reactions to biological happenings, ideas to language, histories to possible futures, the non-human to the more-than-human and the universe, all things seems to be entangled in relationship with something else (often, many things).

I've started attending a quaker's meeting. I don't resonate with their religious foundational beliefs but I very much resonate with their commitment to welcoming people into their meetings that don't, and I love their way of being together: sitting in contemplation and silence until moved to speak.

I have an ever-growing dislike for joining online events with a bunch of folk I've never met and then (without being offered an alternative) being placed in breakout rooms to discuss meaningful things and work together.

I am awed by the human creatures that, finding themselves with so many logical and justifiable reasons for small and large unkindnesses, hatreds, bitternesses, arrogances, and greeds, instead look to have their days moved by love, repair, compassion, empathy, and self-attunement.

I have *genuinely* evolved into someone that can eat just a piece of chocolate at a time. I'm assuming this is the adulting that I've heard so much about. If it is, it's both a let down and a fricking spiritual event.

Perhaps it's through being really curious about ourselves as relationally complex ecosystems, whole and integrated but constantly being rearranged and dependent on so much, that we learn to love and appreciate the relational complexity we exist within.
