I'm that 'How I Paint Things' guy! Wargamer of all stripes. I retweet myself for weird timezones.

Nothing beats a haircut for shaking off the rust. Feeling much better after that!

On the train, on me way to Regensburg for the day. There's, uh... that's not supposed to be a river.

That Vallejo Field Blue is such a specific colour, you just don't see quite like it in other ranges. Same too with Middlestone. Are you yellow? Green? Who knows?!

I do. Courtesy of a very special How I Paint Things: youtu.be/EOvkNPB5xww

Matching the base to the scenic element for the photos was a lot of fun!

The Holy Roman Empire as they appear in Marcher. Representing the 21st Landswehr Division out of Prague during the Siege of Frankfurt, they painted their silver armour with vehicle paint rather than shining in the ruins!

The type of fussy I am?

Opening the STL for the cobblestone street in 3D Builder and taking just the textured surface rather than the whole interlock street panel, transferring that into Chitubox to use 'dig hole' to carve a 25mm round shape into it, with 'keep plug' so I get the right base.

This is honestly one of my favourite parts of cooking up a colour scheme. Staring at the artwork, then my rack of paints, trying to figure out which is going to work as the best base for what I've got in mind. Aah, but then a wash, a drybrush or two... it all starts cooking here!

YouTube will tell you 'lunchtime on a Wednesday' is the kind of time an insane person releases a video, but that's never stopped me!

Once again leaning into using ivory as a 'universal highlight,' here's @warfulcrumgames.bsky.social's 1918 British getting some attention.

Ready for action, wherever the front takes him. The @warfulcrumgames.bsky.social Great War figures have some wonderful poses, especially considering how hard it'd be for this poor corporal to signal with a mask on!

Gas masks still bloody terrify me.

This @warfulcrumgames.bsky.social British Corporal is dangerously close to finished, once I get the gunk on his base and a little grime around his boots. Not all of 1918 was trenches and mud, but it's still kind of iconic for the Great War!

I always love carefully slicing open @badsquiddogames.bsky.social packages like I'm defusing a bomb so I don't get colourful packing peanuts everywh-[*KABOOM*]

It's an older picture now, and I wish I could find the miniature to take some new photos... but I still really like how this old T-45 suit came out.

These @warlordgames.com US Heavy Infantry had been sitting by my painting table before Christmas. A quick job with a drybrush and a couple of highlights later, they're ready for action! An officer and attendants with a 5-strong infantry unit. They'll be joined by another 5 soon!

It's been a long damn time since I painted any spooks or specters!

Now, I'm not a scientist, but I think there's some legs on the idea of a study titled "Does Coffee Really Taste Better from Hedgehog Mug?" because I'm pretty sure that's a hypothesis we can enjoy testing.

Post a Mage

Personally, I like to imagine Saruman flipping his shit sideways over being called a 'mere' mage.

I love these random emails so much. Part of me has always been tempted to answer one of them 'looking for more information about the infraction,' because I'm fascinated to find out what, precisely, they think they're going to stick me with. Oh, I used your music? ...did I hum or something?

The unspeakable horror this poor guy had to witness? I painted a Cadian who wasn't white. G a s p.

What do these guys think is going to happen in response to this bitch-ass whining? I'm going to take the video down? Implausible as it might seem - and I swear this is true - Black people exist.

Kradschützen were the recce elements of Panzer divisions, but often ended up fighting as mounted infantry where the need was greatest. Lacking many heavy weapons they were nonetheless well-supplied with small arms, a sticky problem for any infantry advance!

One of the Kradschutzen sidecars from the upcoming part two to 'Over There,' just in time for the anniversary of the Battle of Kasserine Pass. Dead pleased by that end result. Ivory higlight mixes are the way - quick, but effective!

Also nearly finished today, two minimum-sized squads of US Heavy Infantry with an officer and attendant. There's another five guys and a bazooka team to add to this which will be the core of my K47 US Assault Platoon. Nuts to Fireflies, gimme steel!

I don't mind watching paint dry, it's all part of the process. Sometimes you can even do some funky stuff while the paint's a little wet, still! But watching basing material dry oh my GOD.

Watching people freak out about 'tar pit' Totenkorps units is a weird one. Like, my dudes. It's Konflikt '47. How many HMGs are there kicking around in an army now? Walker-mounted MGs don't halve their shots either, and most of them are packing HMGs too. They can't capture/hold objectives, either!
