As always, my deepest thanks go to all the co-researchers who so generously shared their stories with me. Nothing would have been possible without their trust.

Incredibly happy, as Urban Studies is one of my favourite journals, and ‘Volviendo a Vivir’ (Coming Back to Life): Urban Trauma, Activism and Building Emancipatory Futures (journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....) was also such a pleasure to write with Rachel Pain, on a topic very close to my heart.

As a result, the book is also innovative in the way that it combines text with audio-visual materials, which means, do take a look at the links in it and the videos that let the women share their knowledge literally. We are beyond happy to be able to share this book.

Plus, it is a guide to our methodology: hybrid participatory audio-visual research, that we developed and used in the last three years to work together.
sonjamarzi.bsky.social
The book has been co-written with the women co-researchers and shares their testimonies of displacement, their challenges in the urban and their hopes for better urban futures.

Back in grey cold NL. What a privilege that the women I met and know shared their spaces and lives so generously with me. I was invited to the most inspiring spaces which showed me how positive change can look like. Something desperately needed in the times we live.

Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to get to know two communities in and close to Cali. Thanks again for inviting me. Both communities are extremely inspiring and show us how to create communities of care, something I hope I will be able to explore more in the future with colleagues in Cali.

If you like to have some easy accessible explanation of consequences of Trumps decisions, especially USAID shut down, you can listen to the last episode of Pot Save the World. May not let you sleep easily though afterwards.https://crooked.com/podcast-series/pod-save-the-world/

The continued cowardliness of politicians and especially European governments, not standing up to Trump's lunatic decisions will cost us all! Development activities are in the rarest moments totally altruistic, let's be honest. Stopping them for nationalistic reasons is pretty dangerous.

That international development & cooperation is mistaken as charity by leading political figures should worry all of us. Shutting down USAID will have security consequences. E.g. no screening of people travelling by air from countries with Ebola outbreaks etc.

What an amazing workshop we had today in Medellin. It was great to be together again, share our achievements of the last years and think about future work on the role of women in urban transformations. Thanks to everyone who participated and I am looking forward working with you in the future!

Anyone else struggling with the state of the world right now?

Watching ‘when they see us’ episode 2 has a part in which Trump makes stupid remarks. Racist of course and just to make trouble. If we only would have known how dumb so many of the US population are voting years later and make him their hero who continues to destroy what he can.
