If you miss it so much, join me in not having an Amazon account and never ordering anything through them.

Non-drinking, non-smoking vegetarian with close-to-the-dource diet here.

Sounds like I can add me not having had any spots for as long as I can remember as just one more bit of fun I'm missing out on in life!

Bullies. That's just bullies, but yes.

I committed to Linux a very long time ago. Retired dev, so Copilot etc. arrived well after my time!

Same as your brother I've never had an Amazon account on principle. Bezos has never had a cent off me! 💪😂

When you see the propensity of AI generated ads selling... nothing at all it seems, you realise that all of these things are only to catch the most vulnerable and the least tech savvy amongst us. That's probably no one replying here, but sadly I do have a few friends that don't know any better.

Linux here. I can't think of anything I use that doesn't auto save. Is that not a general thing these days?

You *should* have been talking about backing up, not saving imho.

It's time Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs was expanded. Today it would include internet and transport these days, so yes: nationalise the lot I say!

Sheesh. If you want to make something an issue for your child later in life, make it an issue for them as a kid.

I always thought it was a wallet of lawyers?

Well, Bluesky's setup isn't quite as corporate as the others, and I would encourage that. I'm off all other SM for over a year now, but you're right about how difficult it is to avoid all US products. The thing is to do what you can, ESPECIALLY where "the billionaires" are involved.

As ex-software Project Manager, I'm all too aware of this. In one case, management insisted on a new feature to be done the MD's way instead of to requirements. Six devs for 4 months later (2 man years), the clients rejected it (quelle surprise). It was scrapped and rebuilt to spec.

Thankfully people pointed out "single purpose" as opposed to "single use" . I know we are a throwaway society, but chucking a phone each time the battery runs flat would be taking things too far.

But... the comments on that are run-of-the-mill misogynistic crap. Are these people all adolescent or something? 🤷‍♂️

Not very loyal of you.

Or, like The Right Honourable The Reverend Ian Paisley, learn to say "Never! Never! Never!"

My family already have, long ago. All US products are boycotted in this house (Ireland). Hitting him in the pocket is the only answer.

I started a software company in 1996. Already dabbling in Red Hat in the almost impossible quest for cross platform compatibility, we had one of everything in house. When OSx came out and broke every product we had, we decided to drop Apple and move to Linux, where we also had the tools for Win dev.

😂😂😂 nice plot twist there!
