"I always assumed this meant following the Bible, keeping the Ten Commandments, not consuming "bad" forms of media, like Harry Potter or secular music (gasp!), and living in the fruits of the spirit." I grew up in evangelical spaces. I was taught to stand up to injustice and love my neighbor. But when I failed to see that among the churches I grew up in, I began to realize I needed to create it for myself #religioustrauma #exvangelical #deconstruction #justice.

"The irony is Dobson's teachings contradict the gospels they were meant to defend. The truth of the gospels rests upon a foundation of grace. We are beloved children of God, not because we are perfect, but because of the grace of the Cross. Jesus' sacrifice liberated us from shame and the burden of earning love through our own imperfect efforts. As God's children, we are inherently worthy of love."
