Ironically the app has better moderation, for the past couple of weeks it has been over moderating videos, to the point where images it generated on the app couldn’t be turned into a video without being over-moderated or coming out in terrible quality.

Also some parts of the bill (presumably) will make AI companies angry and I’m guessing was put in just to ensure that it gets support from companies like Disney, it specifically eliminates fair use.

I don’t see it getting far with how much Musk is close to Trump, this would destroy grok.

I should add that federal AI bills limiting state rights, like what they tried to do a few months back, as part of other bills have failed.

I don’t see this one gaining much traction due to that, pretty good example can be seen below.

GenAI is a scapegoat, this was coming as soon as they started trying to blame AI chatbots for suicide and murder.

It’s a scapegoat for them to push further harms, including this.

When I was in a psychiatric hospital, there was a girl with me who was convinced that doors were telling her to harm people, she never did but she kept talking about how doors were telling her to harm people.

I was sexually assaulted and nearly raped in September 2024 and she (along with other politicians) is a reason why I will never report that or any other sex crime committed aganist me again.

I don’t believe I will feel like a victim and fear the repercussions from the police. It’s devastating.

It was in a separate thing, I am not sure what to think about it.

I am emailing the home office to ensure that this isn’t on device scanning along with other concerns.
December 18, 2025 at 4:51 PM
The strategy has been released, aside from some “porn is bad“ stuff that will just end up with people not reporting crimes, there is no demand to scan content on phones for nudity.
December 18, 2025 at 1:43 PM
The UK courts would apply the rigorous test of proportionality, the proportionality test is perhaps even stricter regarding the intrusion on adults' rights for nude images.

I suspect the government knows this and is seeking to try to get Google and Apple to implement this though the backdoor.
December 16, 2025 at 1:21 AM
It wouldn’t survive a judicial review or a ECHR court case, it would fail on proportionality and necessary in a democratic society.

Both this and also any attempt to combat illegal material (CSAM, terroist content) with warrantless scans would not survive any court cases.
December 16, 2025 at 1:21 AM
Wouldn’t this end with a ECHR challenge / judicial review? Since it’s disproportionately spying/scanning on people‘s private images in order to prevent someone from looking at something arguably legal.
December 15, 2025 at 8:39 PM
I was looking into something like this a few days ago, in regards to proposed scans for illegal material (CSAM) on phones, etc

If this became law, it would likely violate the ECHR, even if Google/Apple were made to do it (Hence why it’s voluntary?)
December 15, 2025 at 8:23 PM
Something I should add is that lords tend to push for amendments that they know will never pass, and thus never move on them.

Much like the amendments for the crime and police bill regarding porn, it’s more for show than anything else.
December 15, 2025 at 12:23 PM
It’s clear that Baroness Benjamin has no idea what she is trying to regulate and just putting out amendments that she thinks might be a good idea.
December 15, 2025 at 12:12 PM
Indeed, these amendments were tabled very late as well (the bill is at the report stage) so i would say the likelihood them being adopted is pretty slim.

One of the amendments violates the ECHR (article 8, right to privacy) by forcing apple to scan photos for CSAM.
December 15, 2025 at 12:12 PM
Kinda surprised by that, they were illogical anyway (One would have made it illegal to publish photos from the world naked bike ride for example, a public event…), but I honestly thought they would pass.

Correction, Australia will inadequately protect children and out them at greater risks, including inage based sexual abuse, on the basis of a moral panic.

I got banned from gab for calling out an obviously fake story made up by some investor way back in 2019 or something but I keep getting their emails and they were promoting some kind of “uncensored AI” not long ago.

I doubt its “uncensored” when you try anything sexual however.
