I'm not sure why standing up to Trump would make people's lives worse? Could you explain why holding that opinion makes me a problem?

You can always tell the people who voted for Brexit, because they'll deny they've ever queued at any airport in Europe. But when you're in that queue, you'll never find a soul who'll admit they voted for it 🙄

I'm surprised how many people believe that this obsequious behaviour really is going to do some good. Trump has the attention span of a toddler. There may be a win today but he won't respect them and could easily change his mind tomorrow. Not sure why anyone thinks Carney is in a different place.

Of course the aim - for Starmer at least- is winning votes. That's what he doesn't understand. He may be doing good stuff but it's all about the optics. And grovelling to Trump simply does not work. He can have one conversation with Putin and change his mind tomorrow.

So persuading him otherwise means grovelling? And do you think it will work long term with Trump? I doubt it. As for vote winning - that's exactly what it's all about. It may not be right, but it's what politics is about.

While I don't condone Maxwell's actions, I don't suppose it's escaped any woman's attention that the only high profile person in jail for the exploitation and trafficking of young women is - surprise - a woman.

I'm glad @sturdyalex.bsky.social brought up the issue of race. As a white person married to an Indian, we both think the white, aging Tory membership will not vote for Badenoch. If they do, it will be, as Alex says, merely performative. After all she's more racist than many white people.
