The U.K.'s trade deal with Donald Trump was touted as a post-Brexit win.

The reality is the U.K. is facing higher tariffs than the EU on a number of products, including cheese. I spoke to cheddar and stilton makers about the challenges they're facing.

Brits cheesed off as Trump gives EU a better dairy deal
Cheesemakers exporting to the U.S. are sweating after the EU secured a better agreement on at least one front.

Great to see my article mentioned during today's Foreign Affairs Committee session. EU Relations Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds admits it's "very difficult" to see how the government can recover the £700m it has spent on Brexit border infrastructure.

Debacle is the right word. UK governments between 2016 and 2024 lived in a fantasy world with regard to trade and EU relations that was damaging and expensive. This one is more realistic but has to pick up the pieces. www.politico.eu/article/brex...

Britain's trade department is bracing for a 20 percent cut to its workforce as the country grapples with an unpredictable U.S. president and seeks new trade opportunities to kickstart its sluggish economy.

If targets are not met via a voluntary scheme, some staff could face compulsory redundancies.

🚨🚨 Whilst the EU-UK deal was a clear improvement and win for Starmer, we should not forget that it does not change the major premises of relationship which is enshrined in the TCA and that #brexit still is a long and dragging beast of misery and pain. 🧵

From July 1, a whole raft of new food products sold in Northern Ireland will have to carry “Not for EU” labels — the latest iteration of Brexit paperwork despite PM Keir Starmer's promises slash red tape.

Trade antennae twitching at Naples airport... Not a single sign warning U.K.-bound passengers it is forbidden to bring meat and cheese back into the country due to foot-and-mouth disease. Seemingly nothing to stop Brits buying prosciutto, mozzarella and Parmesan at duty free.
